You know each other’s faces by heart. But have you ever really seen each other’s eyes? Couples iris photography captures both irises up close and sets them against a black background that brings out its color and detail. Every iris holds more than 240 distinct features, which is what makes each one unrepeatable. New to this? Start with our complete guide to iris photography in Arizona.
At Sol Iris Photography in Downtown Mesa, Arizona, a two-iris couples session takes about fifteen minutes per iris, starts at $100, and your high-resolution images arrive within three days. Custom designs and professional prints are available.

I was so excited to find Saskia and get mine and my husbands iris photos done! Eyes are truly the window to the soul. It was such a fun and unique date night. I can’t wait to get my kids photos too. Would also be great as a one of a kind gift for others!

What to expect
When you arrive, I’ll greet you and walk you through the space. On the back table you’ll find the work of Francis Giacobetti, the artist who brought iris photography into the spotlight and shot some of its most famous images.
Below the fine art prints is a QR code. If you’d like a custom design, scan it, browse the catalogue, and note your design number. Then I’ll hand you the iPad to fill out your session details and enter that number, which takes about five minutes. Keep the iPad with you afterward. The photos I take in studio come through larger on the screen, so you can see each iris up close and choose the one you like best. Once you’ve picked your eye, we’ll shoot a series of about five frames.
One quick heads up: the lights are bright, and holding your eye open wide can get drying. If you want to blink it out or take a short break at any point, that’s completely fine.
When we’re finished, I’ll hand you my card so you can call or text anytime with questions. Your hand-edited images arrive within three days.
Quick and easy, and you leave with something no one else in the world will ever have.
Planning your visit
Sessions are by appointment only, at 86 W University Drive in Downtown Mesa, a short drive for most of the Phoenix metro. Give yourself about fifteen minutes per iris, so roughly half an hour for the two of you. If you wear contacts, please come with your glasses.
Who it’s for
Most are couples marking something. A date night. An anniversary. An engagement. A wedding. A couples iris portrait gives them a way to honor their love and connection.
It works just as well for any two people who belong together. Two sisters. Friends who go back thirty years. A mother and her grown daughter.
Given as a gift or kept for the two of you, it is a rare and beautiful keepsake.
